Egotism

I really need to find a new way to photograph art that doesn't make it look so crappy : /

Anyway, this is for my AP Art Portfolio whose theme is 'hard truths aka traits you don't want to admit to'. Egotism is the first one I actually finished. I'm almost done with Prejudice and I'm starting Anxiety.

I'm not gonna try to explain the entire thing as a whole because I'm extremely incompetent at explaining art without actually physically pointing to each part. But I will enlighten you as to what each of the 5 'slices' are meant to represent. Left to right: Worldliness (or perhaps culture/enlightenment. I haven't really decided), Intelligence, Beauty, Creativity/Talent/Vision, Individuality.

This one is kind of the ultimate oxymoron of my concentration (and my favorite concept, if not piece (so far)) since it encompasses all the things that people /do/ want to admit to and then slanders it as being egotistical. Yeah I'm just a jerk like that. It was also the one that sparked off the idea in general. I had this image of a brain with these things floating out of it stuck in my head for months. So I decided to put it to use for my portfolio. Of course, this is nothing like the original image because that was just impractical, but I like it better I think. Even though it pisses me off that I made Creativity so nice that it completely distracts from the rest of the picture -_- Lame...

Anyway, I think the reason I picked the hard truths thing as my theme is that it's like the ultimate artistic confessional. Which, for some reason, is really appealing to me. I love bringing to light all of my flaws.

Who knows why? o.o

And...I think people will relate to the things I portray...even if they don't want to admit to it ~^
